DAYTON — People as old as 69 years old are eligible to apply to be apart of the Dayton Police Department’s latest recruit class, a significant increase in age from previous classes.
“If law enforcement has been your dream, it may not be too late,” Dayton police said in a statement.
Previously, the department’s age limit for recruits was 35 years old.
Applications for the 112th Police Recruit Class are being accepted through Oct. 15 and the academy begins in the summer of 2022.

The application period for potential police recruits is open now and continues until Friday, Oct. 15.
The academy lasts for about six months and covers Ohio Revised Code statutes, firearms, pursuit driving, physical control techniques, and other trainings, according to the department.
Dayton police said they offer specialized positions and opportunities to advance into leadership roles.
