At least 4 people hospitalized in pedestrian strike in Dayton

DAYTON — At least four people are hurt after a pedestrian strike in Dayton late Saturday afternoon, according to a news release from the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office.

Crews responded to the 3400 block of Salem Avenue at 5:39 p.m.

A 2006 Chevrolet Trailblazer exited the parking lot at the Salem Beverage & Marketing. It turned left to travel northwest on Salem Avenue and travel left of center and was struck by a 2008 GMC Yukon, the release said.

A pedestrian was standing in the sidewalk and got struck by the trailblazer after impact and thrown in the parking lot.

Video from the scene shows at least two vehicles suffered damaged and multiple medics on scene.

The driver of the Yukon was not hurt.

A passenger from the Trailblazer and pedestrian were both transported to hospitals with possible serious injuries, the sheriff’s office said.

An infant from the Trailblazer and the driver were both hospitalized with minor injuries.

One person was taken to Grandview Hospital and medics transported two others to Dayton Children’s dispatchers told News Center 7.

Impaired driving is suspected as a contributing factor in the crash, according to the sheriff’s office said.

The crash remains under investigation.
