1 dead, 1 injured after accident Saturday in Darke County

FRANKLIN TOWNSHIP — A woman is dead after a crash in Darke County Saturday.

Crews were dispatched to a crash at the intersection of State Route 571 and Hogpath Road around 3:20 p.m.

A 2006 Chevy pickup truck driven by Marc Myers, 57, was traveling northwest on State Route 571 and turning left onto Hogpath Road when a 2002 Harley-Davidson struck the truck’s rear end, the release said.

Steven Umbaugh, 55, of Beavercreek and Su Chin Umbaugh, 55, were both thrown from a motorcycle and taken to the hospital by medical helicopter.

According to the Darke County Sheriff’s Office around 6:30 p.m. Su Chin died from her injuries.

Myers and a juvenile passenger were treated and released from the scene.

The crash remains under investigation.
