MONTGOMERY COUNTY — A woman from Texas flew to the Miami Valley to reunite with her lost dog after seven years.

As reported on News Center 7 at 5:00 p.m., A riverside man told News Center 7 that the dog walked up to him on a job site. After a visit to the vet, he learned the dog had an owner.

The dog, Thor, was reunited with his mom and dad, Ja’rhon and Ron Adger, today. It’s their first time seeing each other in seven years.
Thor never forgot his mom, and she never stopped thinking about him.
The whole time, they thought he was in a loving home, but in reality he was wandering the streets.
Ja’rhon and Thor first lived in Louisiana together. Ja’rhon then moved to Texas.
She never knew where Thor went, and it’s not clear how he ended up in Ohio.
Last week, he walked up to workers at a job site in Riverside.
“He was really lethargic and just out of energy. He come up, and he basically laid his head against my leg, begging for help,” Allen Carter, the man who found Thor, said.
Carter told News Center 7’s Taylor Robertson that he finished up his workday and took Thor to the vet.
“So I took him to the vet a day or two later, and had all the tests and stuff to make sure he was okay. And when the vet took him in, and wanded him and found out he had a microchip. So she got the information, sent it to the microchip company,” Carter said. “That afternoon, I get a text message from this lady, and she goes, ' You found a dog?’ and I said, ‘Yes,’ and she was like, ‘I haven’t seen this dog in seven years.’”
In Ohio, getting your dog licensed is required by law. Microchipping is also a good way to add an extra form of identification.
Dog owners can license and microchip their dogs at your local Animal Resource Center.
“If you’re going to have an animal, have it microchipped,” Carter said. “So if it does get lost, you can find that animal because that animal is just as scared about being lost as you are.”
Because the vet was able to identify Thor and his owner, he gets to finally go home to his mom.
Carter told News Center 7 that he loved having Thor around and planned on keeping him. However, he said that being a part of the reunion meant much more to him than keeping Thor for himself.
“You can’t always think about me; you got to think about others. And the more people that would do that, the better off things in life would be,” Carter said. “You know, and he just, he deserves to be back with his mama. And she deserves to have him.”
Thor and his parents are now on their way back home to Texas after an unexpected happy ending for their family.
