The crash was reported on state Route 503 near Somers Gratis Road in Preble County around 1:30 a.m. Saturday.

A preliminary investigation found a vehicle driven by a 19-year-old woman went off the right side of the road, overturned, and caught fire. The second vehicle in the crash went off the left side of the road and crashed into a utility pole, an Ohio State Highway Patrol spokesperson told News Center 7.

The woman, who was not identified, was flown from the scene by a CareFlight medical helicopter to Miami Valley Hospital, however her condition was not immediately known, state troopers said.

Two occupants inside the other vehicle suffered minor injuries and were transported to Atrium Medical Center for treatment.

All parties involved in the incident were at a house party before the crash, and road rage is being investigated as a factor in the incident, the spokesperson said.

A handgun was recovered during the crash investigation and that portion of the incident is being investigated by the Preble County Sheriff’s Office, state troopers said.

Preble County Sheriff Mike Simpson said their portion of the incident remains under investigation and additional details were not released.

State Route 503 was closed for over 12 hours for the investigation and did not reopen until Saturday afternoon, state troopers said. Findings from the highway patrol’s investigation are expected to be sent to the agency’s investigations division, the OSHP spokesperson said.

We’ll continue to update this story as new details become available.
