Swap of jail ID bands causes aiding escape charge Anthony Woods

Two men are facing charges after reportedly trading identification bands in order for one jail inmate to get out early.

Anthony Woods was indicted Thursday in Montgomery County for the Aug. 1 incident at Montgomery County Jail. He’s facing a felony charge of aiding escape or resistance to authority.

Woods was reportedly about to be released from jail, but a second jail inmate talked him into trading identification bands so he could get out early instead, according to Greg Flannagan, spokesman for the prosecutor’s office.

The second inmate’s name hasn’t been released yet but he is facing a charge of attempt to commit escape. His case hasn’t gone before a grand jury yet.

Woods is no longer in jail custody and has an arraignment set for Sept. 1.
