FBI and local law enforcement announce four arrests following a federal investigation into a robbery gang.
An investigation began in September following multiple armed robberies in Dayton, Trotwood and Clayton. The investigation was conducted by the Southern Ohio Safe Streets Task Force and Trotwood, Dayton and Clayton police departments.
In connection with a robbery at Family Dollar in Dayton Sept. 27, Gregory Lewis Gibson, 28, of Dayton, was arrested Oct. 29 on a federal criminal complaint with Hobbs Act robbery and the use, carry and brandishing of a firearm during a crime of violence, according to a media release.
Additional criminal complaint charges against Dayton residents Roderick Brown, 23; LeRontae Williams, 23; and Jayla Walker, 23, are for Hobbs Act robbery and the use, carry and brandishing of a firearm during a crime of violence for the alleged robbery of the Main Source Bank in Clayton Sept. 30, according to a media release.
Brown and Walker were arrested Oct. 19. Williams was arrested Oct. 28.
This investigation has also resolved cases involving the alleged robberies of the River Valley Credit Union in Trotwood that occurred Sept. 17 and Oct. 13.
A criminal complaint is not a finding of guilt.
The investigation was led by Special Agent in Charge Angela L. Byers of the Cincinnati Division of the Federal Bureau of Investigation; U.S. Attorney Carter M. Stewart; Chief Richard Biehl of Dayton Police; Sheriff Phil Plummer of Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office; Captain John Porter of Trotwood Police; and Chief Matt Hamlin of Clayton Police.
