Driver who struck pedestrian turned herself in

Kelty’s brother Shawn Kreger said he was in the car when this happened early Saturday morning and says they didn’t realize what had happened.

Kreger said his sister turned herself in to police after she went home and saw the news report on TV.

“At the time when the accident happened we had no clue we had hit anything,” Kreger said. “If we had known we had hit a person, we would have stopped.”

Kreger, 21, added that he and his family are thinking about the victim, Lisa Raines, and her family and wish the best for them.

A woman was arrested in a hit and run early Saturday that resulted in the death of a pedestrian.

Charlie Kelty, 24, of Trotwood, was arrested at 2 p.m. Saturday and booked into the Montgomery County Jail after deputies said she was the driver who fled the scene.

The pedestrian, identified as Lisa Raines, 30, of Trotwood, was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office.

Kelty was booked into the Montgomery County Jail on suspicion of failing to stop after an accident, online jail records show.

UPDATE @ 7:45 a.m.:

A woman was killed in Harrison Twp. in an apparent pedestrian strike early Saturday morning.

Deputies were dispatched shortly after 3 a.m. on a report of a person down at the intersection of North Main Street and East Woodbury Drive, according to a news release from the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office.

The woman was found unresponsive and was later pronounced dead at the scene.

Deputies say a preliminary investigation indicates the woman may have been crossing or walking along North Main Street when she was struck by a vehicle traveling northbound. That vehicle fled the scene and has not yet been identified by deputies.

Witnesses or anyone with information about this incident is urged to contact the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office at 937-432-2727.

FIRST REPORT

The Montgomery County Coroner’s Office has been requested after a body was found in the middle of a Harrison Twp. intersection.

Deputies were called out around 3 a.m. to the intersection of North Main Street and East Woodbury Drive after several callers reported a person down in the left turn lane.

The incident remains under investigation, but officials believe the person was struck by a vehicle. North Main Street remains blocked in both directions for the investigation.
