A 26-year-old who previously served three years in prison for a 2009 shooting now faces a mandatory 15-year sentence for the death of Jason Rutledge last year.
Tarrell Postell pleaded guilty to involuntary manslaughter and felonious assault Wednesday, admitting that he shot and killed Rutledge during a game of dice on Feb. 20, 2013.
Postell was initially arrested the day after the homicide on a single charge of felonious assault because police said he attempted to shoot Rutledge's brother. He was later charged with murder, felonious assault, involuntary manslaughter and having weapons under disability.
The three men and several others were hanging out in residence on Ravenwood Avenue when an argument led to multiple shots being fired by Postell, prosecutors said.
Postell will be back in court for sentencing on March 6.
