FIRST REPORT (June 19):

Police in Dayton recovered a stolen truck tonight that was possibly used by inmates who escaped from an Indiana jail.

The white 2015 Ford F-350 dual wheel utility truck was found just before 9 p.m. in the 1800 block of North Gettysburg Avenue with the keys left inside, according to the Fayette County (Indiana) Sheriff’s Department.

Fayette County deputies said Dayton police were searching the area for the inmates — Chadwick Heath and Michael Roberts, but dispatchers here said there was no active search for the men who escaped Friday night from the Fayette County Jail. The truck was reported stolen this morning by Roberts’ previous employer, deputies said.

Heath is charged with four counts of dealing in a narcotic drug, maintaining a common nuisance and visiting a common nuisance. Roberts is charged with burglary and two counts of theft.

Heath and Roberts got through a 2-by-2-foot hole in the wall of their cell around 11:30 p.m., according to Fayette County deputies. A $1,000 reward is offered for each inmate for any information that leads to an apprehension. Anyone with information is urged to call 911 or the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office, 765-825-2111.
