Public Health opens new vaccine clinic in Dayton

Public Health-Dayton & Montgomery County marks the opening of the second new vaccine clinic location today. The new location is at the SugarCreek Packing Company on North Gettysburg Ave. The new location is one of two new vaccine clinics, with the second being at Sinclair South in Centerville.

Previously, Public Health had their clinic set at the Dayton Convention Center.

The SugarCreek Company’s Chief Relationship Officer, Jennifer Hutcheson told News Center 7′s Mike Campbell that the key was to get the clinics in comfort zones.

“Our team spent a lot of time getting the facility ready and when they approached us, we thought, what a simple, easy way for us to contribute,” Hutcheson said.

Being a food packaging company, the SugarCreek Company made a food truck available to those at the clinic. Anyone who can prove they have been vaccinated can get a free meal.

Officials for Public Health said the opening day of the new clinic came with a good turnout.

One Dayton woman at the clinic said she understood why many people have vaccine hesitancy, having experienced it herself.

“I was hesitant, I think it was a personal choice,” Tina Andrews said.

Andrews was at the clinic with her mother. She said her mother was nervous, but decided to get the vaccine after the rest of their family got it.

The clinic set up at the SugarCreek Company offers the Pfizer two dose vaccine, as well as the Johnson & Johnson single dose shot.
