Head-on crash causes U.S. 42 closure near Spring Valley

The Ohio State Highway Patrol released the names of the two drivers hurt in a head-on crash Friday morning on U.S. 42 near Spring Valley Paintersville Road.

They are James Dwyer, 63, and Michael Johnson, 46, both of Jamestown.

Dwyer was taken to Greene Memorial Hospital and Johnson was taken to Miami Valley Hospital with serious injuries. Tonight, Johnson was listed in fair condition at the Dayton hospital.

The crash and which driver went left of center has not been released.

UPDATE @ 12:30 p.m

A Ford Ranger and a Chevrolet Silverado collided when one of them crossed a center line, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol’s Xenia Post.

Troopers are still investigating the cause of the accident and who is at fault. Both drivers were injured and transported to area hospitals.

We are currently on scene of a head on collision that has shut down U.S. 42 near Spring Valley Paintersville Road. 
The crash happened late Friday morning and involved two pickup trucks according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol.

At least two people were taken to area hospitals with injuries and we are working to learn more on their conditions. We will update you with the latest information.
