The report of a grenade found Friday night at the Englewood MetroPark was the first time the Dayton Police Department’s new bomb quad vehicle was sent to a scene.
The second call also came Friday night, for a suspicious package that turned out to contain a jewelry box in Dayton.

Lt. Jason Hall of the Dayton Bomb Squad said the new vehicle is larger and is specifically set up for bomb squad units so it can easily store its robot, other tools and gear.
UPDATE @ 10:45 p.m.
The Dayton Bomb Squad has detonated a grenade found tonight at the Englewood MetroPark.
The ordnance was believed to have been a shell of an Mk 2 grenade, police said. It was not known whether the devise was inert, so it was detonated as a precaution.

The Dayton Bomb Squad plans to detonate a grenade found tonight by a visitor to the Englewood MetroPark.
The ordnance, described as a World War I- or World War II-era Mk 2 grenade, was reported at 7:50 p.m., the Montgomery County Regional Dispatch Center said.
The park was not evacuated, but a section was cordoned off tonight while the bomb squad was on scene, MetroParks police officer Ben Supinger said.
