Scene secure after Dayton Bomb Squad called to house for ‘suspicious package’

UPDATE @ 12:55 a.m. (June 17)A suspicious package found Friday night at a Fauver Avenue home turned out to be a jewelry box.

“A resident had come home, found a package on her back porch she was not expecting, didn’t know where it came from. She was very concerned about it. We responded, investigated the package, determined it did not pose a threat,” Lt. Jason Hall of the Dayton Bomb Squad said.

The package was not labeled, and the resident is still not sure where it came from, but it was not dangerous, Hall said.

“We always tell folks if you see something, say something. If you see packages or see things left unattended, let somebody know.”

The woman reported to police her back door had been kicked in, but police did not confirm that report at the scene.

UPDATE @ 11:35 p.m.Some neighbors living near a Fauver Avenue home that is the focus of the Dayton Bomb Squad dispatch said they were told to evacuate because of the suspicious package.
