Construction is complete on a new family advocacy center in Brigid’s Path

Construction on a new family advocacy center added to Ohio’s first newborn recovery center, Brigid’s Path, is finally complete.

The center was built to expand services and offerings for families impacted by substance abuse disorder, according to a release.

Some of the facility’s offerings include on-site laundry, additional restroom and shower facilities, and a full kitchen for moms and families to use while their infants are receiving care at Brigid's Path.

"Especially in this time of uncertainty, our goal is to give our families the space they need to make the best decisions they can for their futures," said Jill Kingston, executive director, Brigid's Path.

The Dayton Foundation and The Virginia W. Kettering Foundation both supplied grants to help fund the $340,000 project, the release said.

"We can't know exactly how the pandemic will impact our community," said Kingston.

"We're here to help as many families as we can for as long as we can. This new space will be so helpful in the coming weeks and months as we try to serve as many families as we reasonably can. We are here to help."

The center is hoping to eventually provide educational opportunities such as cooking and finance classes.

The team hopes to have the center fully operational later this year, they said.
