Abortion activists rally outside Kettering clinic

Both sides of the abortion debate gathered outside a Kettering clinic Sunday to demonstrate.

The group, 40 Days for Life ended its 40 days of prayer with a closing rally outside of the Women’s Med Center Sunday afternoon. According to group leader Debbie Nieport, members of the group “pray for an end to abortion using peaceful, prayerful methods.”

PUSH Dayton and Dayton Women’s Rights Alliance held a counter rally at the same time and at the same location.

“For too long, the majority of women have been silent in the face of attacks by those who want to take away their rights to make their own reproductive choices and we feel it’s important to make our voices heard now and especially on Election Day,” said Joy Schwab of the Dayton Women’s Rights Alliance.

Women's Med Center and Planned Parenthood of Southwest Ohio in Cincinnati are suing the state of Ohio, claiming that laws restricting abortion services are unconstitutional.

The lawsuit came after Ohio Department of Health officials indicated they were going to revoke licenses for the centers, which are the last two remaining in the Cincinnati and Dayton regions.
