15-year-old fatally stabbed in Sidney ID’ed; teen arrested on murder charges

Sidney — One 15-year-old has been arrested on charges of murder and another 15-year-old had died, according to a Sidney Police press release.

Cody Powers, 15, of Dingman Road in Sidney, died at Miami Valley Hospital today, according to a release from the Montgomery County Coroner’s Office.

Around 10:17 p.m. Thursday, police and medics responded to a stabbing in the 700 block of Dingman Street in Sidney.

When first responders arrived on scene, a 15-year-old male was found with a knife wound to his stomach.

He was taken to Wilson Health and then transferred to Miami Valley Hospital.

He later died from his injuries.

According to police, detectives were able to speak to witnesses and learned another 15-year-old male had stabbed the victim. Witnesses told police the suspect and three others challenged the victim and an acquaintance to a fight. The altercation stemmed from a text the victim sent to the suspect’s girlfriend, according to a release.

The suspect was charged with one count of murder and was transported to West Central Juvenile Detention Facility in Try.
