SOUTH CHARLESTON — UPDATE @ 11:13 p.m.: A 50-year-old man was killed in the single-vehicle crash on Selma Pike and speed was one of the contributing factors, the Ohio State Highway Patrol said.

Brian Scott Wilson was headed south on Selma, just south of North River Road, in a 4-door Cadillac CTS that left the roadway, hit a mailbox and then a driveway about 7:30 p.m.

The vehicle continued on, hitting a utility pole and a tree.

Wilson was flown to Miami Valley Hospital by CareFlight, but was pronounced dead at the hospital by a Montgomery County Coroner’s investigator.

Wilson’s not wearing a seat belt was another contributing factor in the accident along with speed, Lt. B.K. Aller said.

The investigation of the accident continues, according to the state patrol.

This fatal accident in Clark County is the sixth this year, according to the state patrol.
