Records: Man arrested for using weapons while intoxicated after shots fired report in Xenia

XENIA — UPDATE @ 7:55 a.m.:

A 51-year-old man was arrested on initial charges of inducing panic and using weapons while intoxicated near a Xenia street where a man was reportedly firing shots from a shotgun while walking down the road, according to online jail records.

Michael Ray Bailey was arrested on the charges near the intersection on Pocahontas and Lake streets in Xenia around 11:15 p.m. Thursday, records show.

Police were called to reports of a man firing shots from a long gun, later determined to be a shotgun, and coming onto porches of homes on Pocahontas Street.

No injuries were reported and no homes were damaged, police said.

UPDATE @ 12:02 a.m. (April 10):

A man callers said was firing a shotgun as he walked along a Xenia street on Thursday night is in custody and police are working to determine what charges to pursue.

Xenia police, Greene County Sheriff’s deputies and Ohio State Highway Patrol troopers were sent to the area to search for the man, Xenia police Capt. Gary Johnson said.

Neighbors reported that the man went onto the porches of some homes in the area of Pocahontas Street, left them and fired the long gun as he walked. Johnson said authorities were still working to determine how many times the man discharged the weapon.

They heard yelling from a wooded area south of Pocahontas Street, where they located the man and took him into custody, the captain said.

No one was injured and Johnson said no home was damaged.

INITIAL REPORT (April 9)

A report of a man seen firing a long rifle as he walked along streets in Xenia, has drawn the attention of police and sheriff’s deputies.

The incident was reported just before 10 p.m. and police have set up a perimeter in the area of Pocahontas and McDowell streets.

We're hearing the area of the investigation now includes Ormsby Drive and Lake Street as well.

There are no reports of any injuries.

We have a crew on scene and we will update this developing report as we learn more.
