Nicholas Hyslop, 30 of New Carlisle, was identified by deputies as the man who was able to get out of a cruiser while handcuffed and eluded a large search by law enforcement Thursday night.
Hyslop was initially taken into custody on suspicion of OVI after a traffic stop on South Dayton-Lakeview Road in Park Layne around 2 p.m. Thursday. During further investigation, deputies found a loaded handgun, marijuana, meth, well as several credit cards that did not belonging to Hyslop, deputies said in a media release.
Hyslop was handcuffed and placed in the backseat of a Clark County Sheriff’s cruiser. While the deputy was recovering the handgun from the vehicle, Hyslop was able to get the handcuffs in front of him and escape from the cruiser.
He was seen fleeing the scene on foot, still handcuffed.
Deputies gave chase but lost sight of Hyslop. A search of the area was conducted by Ohio State Highway Patrol and the Fairborn Police Department K-9 unit.
Hyslop has not been found and warrants for his arrest have been issued.
Anyone with information about Nicholas Hyslop’s location is asked to contact the Clark County Sheriff’s Office at (937) 328-2560.
