DAYTON — UPDATE @ 4:48 p.m.: One person reportedly is need of a medic at the Dayton Biltmore Apartments downtown.
UPDATE @ 4:29 p.m.:
Crews are still at the Dayton Biltmore Apartments, searching floors to make sure there aren’t victims and investigating the cause of the fire that started on the 14th floor.
At least one person needed oxygen and had to be helped from the 17-floor building, 201 N. Main St.
Several residents have been told to shelter in place, unless they have to be moved because of medical emergency.
Crews are searching for a water source because of the major water main breaking on North Keowee Street near East First Street.
According to a city official, the water main break was in a 48-inch line.
INITIAL REPORT
At least one person reportedly needed oxygen stemming from a fire in the Biltmore building, 201 N. Main St., in downtown Dayton.
Crews were dispatched about 3:51 p.m. on a report of a possible fire at the building. Several fire departments have been dispatched since that initial call.
We’re hearing the fire was found in a 14th-floor unit.
The person needing oxygen, believed to be a female, was found on the 12th floor.
