Oakwood Black Lives Matter Rally

OAKWOOD — A group of roughly 30 people staged an impromptu Black Lives Matter march and rally for George Floyd in Oakwood on Tuesday evening.

The group marched up and down Far Hills Avenue and stopped in the 2400 block near the Graeter’s Ice Cream shop. Participants, mostly young people, stood near the bus stop and in the grass median along Far Hills Avenue.

They chanted, held signs and raised fists in response to the Memorial Day killing of Floyd while in police custody, in Minneapolis.

A couple of Oakwood police vehicles showed up, but the officers did not shut down the effort, some of which was met by honking horns.

The group gathered for about an hour. Participants told our News Center 7 videographer the word about the march and rally was spread via social media.
