2 Trotwood police officers, driver of second vehicle injured in collision on Olive Road

TROTWOOD — An apparent failure to yield the right of way led to the collision Wednesday afternoon on Olive Road involving a Volkswagen Jetta and a marked Trotwood Police SUV, the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office said.

The Jetta, pointed east at a posted stop sign on Mantz Avenue at Olive, pulled into the intersection and was attempting to turn left when it struck the Chevy Tahoe SUV police vehicle, which was headed south on Olive, according to the preliminary investigation.

The police cruiser went off the left side of the road, where it came to rest in the accident reported about 3:47 p.m. The Jetta ended up in the intersection.

Two officers were in the cruiser. Both of them and the car’s driver suffering non-life threatening injuries and were taken to a hospital.

The Sheriff’s Traffic Services Unit investigation is ongoing, according to the sheriff’s office.
