UD Womens basketball Sunday game postponed

Weather conditions have forced the University of Dayton women's basketball team's nationally televised conference opener to be postponed, the university announced Saturday afternoon.

The team was scheduled to travel to Saint Louis for a 3 p.m. tip-off Sunday, but multiple factors have forced the game to be rescheduled.

"We were supposed to play tomorrow, but Saint Louis is still in New York," head coach Jim Jabir said. "Besides we are supposed to have some really bad weather in Ohio over the next few days, so we had few options."

SLU was stuck in New York following their Jan. 2 game against Fordham University, according to the school website. They will remain in the city through Monday.

The UD game was originally set to air on NBC Sports Network, but Jabir said he doesn't know if it will be broadcast when the teams finally play. NBC Sports could not be reached for comment on the matter.

Dayton will not practice Sunday and on Tuesday will travel to Washington, D.C. for their Jan. 8 game against George Mason.

As for how Jabir plans to stay warm in the expected sub-zero weather, he has something in mind. "I'm going to stay inside, relax by the fire and read a good book," he said.
