Several area high schools win state girls basketball district titles, advance to regionals

COLUMBUS — Several area high schools won the 2023 state girls basketball district titles and advance to the regional rounds.

Tri-Village beat Fayetteville-Perry, 71-29, Saturday at Troy High School while Marion Local defeated Minister, 43-33. Marion Local and Tri-Village will play Thursday night in the Division IV Region 16 semifinals at Butler High School in Vandalia at 6 p.m.

Fort Loramie advance to the regionals with a 52-19 win over Covington while Russia beat Legacy Christian Academy, 57-32. Both Fort Loramie and Russia battle each at Butler High School at 8 p.m. in the Division IV Region 16 semifinals.

Versailles moved on to the Division III Regional 12 semifinals beating Maderia, 38-21. Versailles will play East Clinton Wednesday at 8 p.m. at Springfield High School in Springfield.

Alter beat Summit Country Day, 55-41, Friday to become Division II District champs. The Lady Knights’ next game will Tuesday night at 8 p.m. against Badin in the Division II Region 8 semifinals at Springfield High School.

The winners of each regional winner advance to state championships at the UD Arena March 10-11.
