DAYTON — It was announced Sunday night that the Dayton Flyers will be in this year’s National Invitational Tournament (NIT).

UD is a number one seed in the Top Left Bracket and will play Toledo. The game will be played at Toledo Wednesday night at 7 pm due to the UD Arena being unavailable due to the First Four Tuesday and Wednesday. The winner of that game will play the winner of four-seeded Vanderbilt and Belmont. The rest of the bracket includes three-seeded Florida and Iona and two-seeded Xavier against Cleveland State.

This will be the Flyers’ third NIT appearance in four years. They made it in 2019 and 2021 before losing in their opening round match-ups.

Dayton was the one of the last four teams left out in this year’s NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament.

UD has been designated as a replacement team if any team has to cancel due to Covid-19. The Flyers are 23-10 this season and lost their last game to the eventual Atlantic 10 Tournament champs, Richmond, on Saturday afternoon, 68-64.

You can hear Dayton at Toledo Wednesday night on the home of the Flyers; 1290 and 95-7, WHIO.
