SIDNEY — Wilson Health is partnering with CompuNet Clinical Laboratories to provide area residents with an antibody test that will tell whether they’ve had a past infection of COVID-19 -- no doctor’s note necessary, starting May 7.

“When infected with a virus or other pathogen, our immune system makes proteins called antibodies to fight off the infection,” said Dr. Michael Trygstad, chief medical officer for Wilson Health in a release. “With the help of CompuNet Laboratories in Dayton, we are now able to perform antibody tests in our community that can identify those who already had the COVID-19 virus but were asymptomatic or never tested.”
The test will give more information on the occurrence of COVID-19 in Shelby County and is of benefit for those interested in learning their eligibility to donate convalescent plasma, Chief Operating Officer for CompuNet Teresa Williams said.
"The antibody test is easy to conduct and useful for community-based research,' said Williams.
The test is available for patients 18 years of age and older who call 937-498-5334 to schedule an appointment.
Visit www.compunetlab.com and download the testing order form to hurry the testing process.
Patients should bring a credit card for the $65 test and ID to Wilson Health's main campus in their free-standing Medical Building A.
Results will be available through CompuNet’s patient portal within a couple days, or by mail within ten days.
Wilson Health and CompuNet note that a negative test does not necessarily imply immunity from COVID-19 and those with antibodies may still be able to spread the disease.
