WATCH: Crew puts out car fire on U.S. 35 East

Firefighters in Dayton put out flames that erupted in the engine compartment of a burgundy-colored car today on U.S. 35 East.

Crews responded shortly after 3 p.m. and encountered open flames coming from the vehicle, which was parked in the emergency lane just prior to the exit for I-75 South.

The driver was on scene and was unharmed.

The cause of the fire was not immediately available.

Traffic was able to get by in the left lane as fire equipment took up two lanes.
