Myrtle Milledge, world’s oldest New England Patriots fan, dead at 106

MEXICO, Maine — Myrtle Milledge, the Maine woman recognized by the New England Patriots as the football team’s oldest fan, died Tuesday. She was 106.

Milledge died at the Hospice House in Auburn, according to her obituary in the Sun Journal of Lewiston. She was born on Dec. 26, 1915, the oldest child of John and Christine Cyr Knauer, according to her obituary.

Last week, Milledge was honored by the Patriots as the NFL franchise’s oldest fan, WMTW-TV reported. During a celebration at the Rumford Community Home, the team sent her a personalized Patriots jersey that featured her name and the number 106, the television station reported. Milledge also received a signed letter from Patriots owner Robert Kraft.

Milledge served as the grand marshal of a parade for the Patriots in May 2019, a few months after they won Super Bowl LIII, according to The Associated Press.

According to her obituary, Milledge graduated from Mexico High School in 1934. She married Frederick Milledge in 1936 and had four children. Her youngest child, Frederick Milledge Jr., died in a 1968 battle in Vietnam. Her husband died two years later.
