BREVARD COUNTY, Fla. — A Chilean flamingo chick hatched at Brevard Zoo in Florida on September 3.
According to a news release from the zoo, it is the first time since the zoo’s opening in 1994 that a flamingo chick has hatched. The zoo’s flock of flamingos has never laid eggs before.
WFTV said that the chick hatched to mom, Zinnia, and dad, Sneaky. Sneaky has been at the zoo since 1994 and was a part of their original flock.
The zoo told WFTV that they have other eggs being incubated and expect to have more baby chicks on the way.
According to WFTV, baby flamingos are born gray and slowly turn pink as they get older.
