Bed Bath & Beyond is the latest retailer to announce that it will be closed this Thanksgiving.
The home store chain announced three employee-friendly initiatives that will start rolling out on July 1.
In addition to having stores closed on Thanksgiving, the company announced it will give paid parental leave and short-term disability benefits to employees and will set up an associated relief fund.

The company will give 100% pay to benefit eligible, full-time employees for eight weeks after an employee has a baby, fosters or adopts a child.
The company is changing the associate-paid voluntary short-term disability program to a company-funded one, where employees can get up to 8 weeks paid at 100% and then 60% for up to 26 weeks after that first time period.

Finally, an associate relief fund will help employees through hardships. Full and part-time employees can request grant money. The program will get initial funding from the company but will then have company matching of 50% on all employee donations up to $500,000, through the rest of the fiscal year.
