SURPRISE, Ariz. — An alleged drunk driver in a deadly crash in Surprise, Arizona, reportedly had a blood alcohol level nearly three times the legal limit.
Surprise Police Department officers were called out to a three-vehicle crash near Bell Road and Parkview Place Sunday around 2 a.m., according to KSAZ.
Chalsey Brown, 29, had allegedly rear-ended a car while traveling westbound on Bell Road, according to KSAZ. The car was sent into the median and hit a palm tree.
Daniel Duran, 57, the driver in the car, reportedly died at the scene from his injuries, according to KSAZ.
According to KNXV, Brown allegedly continued driving, sideswiped another car and hit a tree in the median.
Officers located Brown and her car. According to KTVK, Brown reportedly refused to get out of her car. SPD also said that she allegedly showed signs of impairment and was reportedly nearly three times over the legal limit.
Brown has been booked on recommended charges of manslaughter, endangerment, DUI, DUI over .08, and DUI over .150, according to KTVK.
