WRENSHALL, Minn. — Have you ever wanted just to put an end to the daily corporate grind and become a farmer?
Thanks to a chicken ranch in Minnesota, you can now taste farm life.
Locally Laid Egg Company has constructed a six-foot elevated house that it’s now renting out on Airbnb, KQDS reported.
The farm’s owners told the news station that they wanted to bring “egg-tourism” to their property and they’re allowing visitors to try their hand at farming.
“I don’t think anyone is doing something exactly like this anywhere. This idea that you can do all of the farm chores and process eggs and get your own carton and sell that at the farmers market, it’s really the whole package,” Lucie Amundsen told KQDS.
The farm’s owners are offering a “Choose Your Own Adventure” stay that could include tending to pasture-raised poultry, egg gathering or just enjoying the “poultry view.”
Visitors have 10 tasks that they can pick from and if they do nine of them, they get “some Locally Laid swag to take home,” the listing said.
In addition to hundreds of free-roaming chickens, the property also has thousands of honeyberry plants that visitors can learn about and tend to.
The working getaway is helping some visitors embrace their inner farmer, while others are learning that farm life is not for them.
“We had a family stay with us one time and their son was terrified of the chickens at first,” Jason Amundsen told KARE. “By the end of the trip, he was holding the chickens.”
The cost of renting the mini farmhouse is $157 a night.
