According to the Wheeling Police Department, the shooting appeared to be connected to an earlier dispute at a restaurant in neighboring Prospect Heights, the Chicago Tribune reported.

The shooting occurred at about 5 a.m. CDT. Police said the victims’ ages ranged in age from 28 to 30 and they had wounds “of varying degrees,” according to WLS.

Police said one group involved in the disagreement returned to a home in Wheeling, and another group fired weapons from outside the residence, The Daily Herald of Arlington Heights reported.

“This normally doesn’t happen here,” Louis Arrela, a neighbor, told WLS. “This is a good neighborhood.”

Another neighbor, who did not want to be identified, told the television station he heard “rapid-fire gunshots.”

" I thought it might have been just a kid next door popping up some rounds,” he told WLS. “About five minutes later the fire department rolled up, the police rolled up and five ambulances rolled up.”

There have been no arrests, according to the Tribune. The Wheeling Police Department said the investigation was ongoing.
