They can do so without a license at hundreds of fishing locations.
June 17-18 will be the only weekend of the year people ages 16 and older can fish without buying a license, according to the Ohio Department of Natural Resources.
The state says these annual free fishing days are an excellent opportunity for beginning and experienced anglers to try fishing in any of Ohio’s public waters.
“Fishing is a pastime that’s meant to be shared with friends and family,” Ohio Governor Mike DeWine said. “We encourage everyone to come out and experience the abundant fishing opportunities Ohio has to offer.”
All other regulations, including size requirements and bag limit, will still apply.
June 18 is also National Go Fishing Day.
