Sprint network outages affect local area

The Sprint network outage may not be resolved locally.

Despite a tweet that service is restored, Dayton area customers say their service is down again.

UPDATE @ 9 p.m.

Sprint just tweeted through its Sprint care account that service is restored for those in parts of Ohio, Indiana, Illinois and Wisconsin who “may have experienced disruption in voice.”

Sprint’s website tonight shows widespread service outages.

Some customers are reporting they lost service around 6 p.m.

Reports originate mostly from Dayton, Cincinnati, Columbus, Indianapolis, Chicago, Fort Wayne, Milwaukee, Madison and Omaha, according to the website for the Kansas-based mobile phone and Internet service provider.

Sprint has not issued any statements regarding the cause of the outages or when service will be restored.
