UPDATE @ 5:14 p.m.: Repairs will be done tonight on the gas line, which serves one customer who doesn't yet have a meter, Vectren spokeswoman Chase Kelley said.

The intersection was being blocked, before the report of the gas leak, by the city for curb repair work, she said.

UPDATE @ 5 p.m.

A section of Main Street in Xenia is closed — east of Detroit Street to Collier Street — after a construction crew hit a natural gas line and caused a leak.

The crew was working on the sidewalk in front of new construction, according to a fire official at the scene.

Vectren has responded and is working to shut off the gas feed to the area.

That section of Main Street may be closed until the early evening.
