HARRISON TWP — UPDATE @ 2:18 a.m.:
Two people were injured in a two-vehicle crash with one driver fleeing the scene Friday evening on Salem Avenue and Wentworth Avenue.
According to the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office, a silver Nissan Murano was traveling southbound on Salem Avenue at excessive speed, moving from the left lane into the right lane, striking a black Dodge Intrepid.
This strike caused the Dodge to travel off the road and strike a utility pole and the Nissan to flip on its top. The driver of the Nissan fled on foot and has not been located, says the MCSO.
The Nissan had two passengers, which one was transported to a local hospital with serious injuries. The other passenger suffered no injuries. The driver of the Dodge was also transported to a local hospital with minor injuries, according to the MCSO.
The matter remains under investigation by the MCSO.
INITIAL REPORT
A two-vehicle accident was reported on Salem Avenue between Free Pike and Wentworth Avenue.
Initial reports indicated one vehicle crashed into a pole on Free Pike while a separate two vehicle accident occurred on Wentworth Avenue.
The two vehicle accident left a silver SUV flipped and bystanders reported that the man driving the SUV may have ran from the scene.
WHIO is working to learn more about the crash and the extent of the injuries.
