Ohio Carry Conceal Gun Licenses Up

COLUMBUS, Ohio — The number of people across Ohio who requested and were granted new Carry Conceal Licenses from county Sheriffs was on the rise in 2020. A new report from the State Attorney General said 169,232 gun license requests came in statewide, making for a 27.8 percent increase over requests in 2019.  In his annual report on Carry Conceal Licenses, Ohio Attorney General Dave Yost did not speculate on why the state saw an increase over the last year.

Yost said there are “roughly 700,000” people around the state who have a Carry Conceal License from their local county Sheriff.

Greene County ranked third overall in the number of requests for new Carry Conceal licenses, at 4,742 in 2020, far above the 1,019 granted in 2019. The same report noted that 72,340 existing licenses were renewed in 2020.

Ohio’s Carry Conceal License program began 16 years ago and requires people to obtain a license from their local county Sheriff.
