Montgomery County has the highest number of COVID cases in daycares in the Miami Valley.

“It does scare me of course,” Kassie Lother of Kettering said about the recent numbers. “I’m a single mom. I have to trust them because I have to go to work.”

Daycares were able to open to full capacity last week.

The first reported cases in Montgomery County at a child care center were at Victorium Learning Center in Dayton in June.

Victorum Learning Center had 18 total cases reported.

“I don’t want my kid to get it and bring it home, and then pass it to my family.” Lother said.

The number of positive COVID-19 cases from child care centers jumped to 47 in the Montgomery County 16 days later.

“When I drop her off in the morning, I pray.” Lother said. “God, keep her safe and let no one there get it.”

Warren County currently has 11 reported cases of COVID-19.

Lother said her goal is to stay informed.

“I have been asking the director here, asking if there are any cases,” Lother said. She said the answer has always been, “No.”

News Center 7 Reporter Kayla Courvell contacted the Victorium Learning Center, but a representative said the center had no comment to make.
