Clayton closer to owning Meadowbrook C.C.

City Council voted tonight to approve an ordinance and a resolution that brings the city one step closer to acquiring the Meadowbrook Country Club this month.

The ordinance authorizes City Manager Richard Rose to acquire the club’s 171-acres that is being donated to the city by Larry and Tina Harris of LGH Properties LTD.

“In order for us to transfer the deed and take the property, an ordinance is required from council,” Rose said.

The property includes a 65,000 square-foot banquet center, clubhouse, Junior Olympic-size pool, baby pool, driving range and an 18-hole golf course.

A closing date has not been set.

The resolution authorizes Rose to enter into a Memorandum of Understanding with LGH Properties LTD and into a management agreement with Dayton Meadowbrook Country Club, doing business as Meadowbrook Country Club, Christopher Harris and Kristina Harris.

Both the ordinance and the resolution go into effect immediately.

The city plans to change the name to Meadowbrook at Clayton Public Golf Course and Recreation Center.
