Huber Heights City Council is expected tonight to table indefinitely Concept 1 Academy LLC’s request to change the use of the property at 5363 Tilbury Road to residential, due to the company withdrawing its original application.
Concept 1 Academy co-owner Tari Darr said Monday she plans to resubmit an application in the next 21 days that will include a K-12 program, such as math, science and reading.
City officials determined last week that ‘Concept 1 Academys original application does not fit the definition of a school according to city and state code, thus making it ineligible to open its facility under its current zoning of planned public and private buildings and grounds district.
Concept 1 Academy - a for-profit organization - recently won the bid in an auction to acquire the 35,000-square-foot former LaMendola Elementary School for $19,000 from Huber Heights City Schools.
