UPDATE @ 10:14 p.m.: A 17-year-old female has been cited as the at-fault driver in the chain-reaction accident on I-75 south that involved three vehicles.
The charge: Failing to maintain assured clear distance. The accident began when her SUV rear-ended another SUV ahead of her that had slowed in the right lane, just north of Benchwood Road exit, said Trooper Pat Enaude, Ohio Highway Patrol Dayton post.
That collision about 5:49 p.m. pushed that second SUV, driven by a 69-year-old man, into the rear of a four-door car that had stopped because of rush-hour traffic, the trooper said.
The teen and the 69-year-old man were taken to hospitals. The driver and passenger in the first car were not injured. They are in their 70s, Trooper Enaude said.
None of injuries are believed serious, Enaude said. All four people involved are from the Dayton area.
