Driver is critical after crash that killed his sister

UPDATE @ 3:45 p.m.

One sibling is dead and her brother was critically injured in the crash.

The woman who died has been identified as 28-year-old Jessica Crim, of Springfield, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol Springfield Post.

Her brother was the driver, Daniel L. Crim. He was taken to Miami Valley Hospital and is listed in critical condition, according to OSP.

The single-vehicle crash happened on Old Columbus Road just west of Bowman Road.

The patrol responded at approximately 10:50 a.m. on the report of a Ford Focus that struck a tree.

The vehicle was westbound on Old Columbus when the driver lost control and went off the left side of the road and struck the tree, according to OSP.

The patrol said speed may have played a part in the crash.

The crash remains under investigation.

UPDATE @ 12:30 p.m.

Troopers said the fatal accident on Old Columbus Road was most likely due to speed.

The driver of the vehicle was taken to the hospital and the passenger was killed in the accident, according to troopers.

The weather may have also had an impact on road conditions, troopers said.

UPDATE @ 11:40 a.m.

One person was killed and another person was seriously hurt in this crash, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol.

The injured was taken by squad to Springfield Regional Medical Center.

No medical helicopters are flying right now because of hazardous conditions.

Crews are responding to a serious injury crash in the 6200 block of Old Columbus Road in Harmony Twp.

The crash was reported as a single-vehicle shortly after 11 a.m., according to the Clark County Sheriff’s Office.

Medics on scene requested a medical helicopter if one was available in the inclement weather conditions, according to scanner traffic.
