Was that Air Force One flying over Dayton?

The short answer is no.

A presidential Boeing VC-25 flew to Wright-Patterson today as part of a training mission, according to base spokesman Bill Hancock. The plane was conducting flight proficiency maneuvers and catching the eye of many Dayton-area residents who saw what they thought was Air Force One overhead.

The blue and white aircraft with the American flag on the tail is better known as Air Force One when the president is aboard, but the commander in chief wasn't on the jet, officials said.

Two VC-25s, better known by its civilian model as a Boeing 747, are assigned to the Presidential Airlift Group within the 89th Airlift Wing at Andrews Air Force Base, Md.
One of the presidential aircraft was spotted practicing touch and go landings at Wright-Patterson in November.
