TIPP CITY — Cellphone video of a Tipp City School bus running a red light has some parents concerned about student safety in the area.
The video, taken Tuesday afternoon, shows the bus running the red light on Ohio 571 at the Interstate 75 overpass.
News Center 7’s John Bedell showed the video to several parents in the area, who all said the driver should be punished.
“They shouldn’t do that with this stretch right here, the way people are crazy driving,” Robin Reichard of Laura said.
News Center 7 sent an email to the school district about the incident and questioned whether that driver was disciplined. Superintendent Gretta Kumpf issued the following statement:
“Tipp City Schools has knowledge of the recording. I worked directly with the district’s transportation supervisor to address the incident. We take the job of safely transporting our students to and from school very seriously.”

A second email was sent questioning whether the driver was disciplined, but a response has not yet been received.
A detective sergeant with the Tipp City Police Department said no one has reached out about issuing any citations for the incident.
Parents we spoke to told us it shouldn’t matter whether children were on the bus at the time of the incident.
Stefanie Page, a Troy parent, said she still hopes something is done.
