Two arrested for forging checks in Clark County

Two people are in Clark County Jail accused of forging checks that had been processed through the Clark County Jail Inmate Trust Account.

The investigation began Nov. 19 when the jail's administrative assistant made the discovery while balancing the jail accounts. Seven checks, totalling $3,224.46, were forged, according to a release. The checks were forged using the Clark County Jail Inmate Trust Account routing and checking account numbers combined with a business name of a fictional Clark County business.

Four checks were made out to Asia Renee Powell and three checks Angel Lynn Deforrest, according to the release.

Both Powell and Deforrest remain in the Clark County Jail.
