Murphy earlier this month allegedly exposed himself to a bartender and stabbed two men in the parking lot of the Moose Lodge in Miamisburg.

UPDATE @ 1:38 p.m. (Feb. 7):

A Dayton man is facing multiple charges after he was accused of exposing himself to a bartender and stabbing two men in the parking lot of the Moose Lodge in Miamisburg.

Thomas Murphy Jr., 45, had pleas of not guilty entered on his behalf to felonious assault and public indecency in Miamisburg Municipal Court Tuesday. His bond was set at $500,000.

According to an affidavit, Murphy was accused of exposing himself to the bartender at the Moose Lodge, 2110 E. Central Ave., before patrons of the members-only establishment removed the 45-year-old from the business.

After being removed from the establishment, Murphy became agitated in the parking lot and was involved in an altercation with two males — Christopher White and Walter Steele — both of whom were stabbed, allegedly by Murphy, according to the affidavit.

Both White and Steele were removed to Kettering Medical Center for treatment of their injuries.

Witnesses told police Murphy, in addition to exposing himself to the bartender, also “was making all kinds of inappropriate comments of a sexual nature,” the affidavit read.

Surveillance video showed that after “a couple of members of the Moose Lodge threw Murphy out” that he “appeared highly agitated” and was pacing around the parking lot. It was after the two victims left the Moose Lodge that Murphy approached them and a scuffle ensued, ultimately leading to the stabbing, the affidavit read.

Murphy is scheduled back in municipal court on Feb. 14 for a preliminary hearing.

UPDATE @ 8:39 a.m. (Feb. 7):

A bartender at the Miamisburg Moose Lodge reported multiple people being stabbed at the bar when she called 911 Saturday night.

“I’m at the Miamisburg Moose and somebody got stabbed,” the woman told dispatchers. “I need an ambulance here right now.”

The woman told police the suspect was wearing a cowboy hat and was hiding underneath a vehicle in the parking lot.

“This is the first time I’ve seen him in here,” she said, adding that the suspect, Thomas Edward Murphy Jr., had been kicked out of the bar earlier in the evening. “We have the doors locked, because I don’t want anyone else leaving.”

Murphy is charged with felonious assault in connection to the stabbing, according to court records.

Police reports indicate Walter H. Steele, 53, and Christopher L. White, 41, were victims in the stabbings that resulted in the arrest of a 45-year-old suspect.

Authorities seized an orange-handled pocket knife as part of the investigation at the Miamisburg Moose 1645, 2110 E. Central Ave., police records show.

Steele was treated and released from Kettering Medical Center, while White suffered “more serious, but non-life threatening injuries” and remained hospitalized as of Monday morning, according to Miamisburg Sgt. Jon Thompson.

Thomas Edward Murphy Jr. was booked into the Montgomery County Jail on suspicion of felonious assault after being arrested at lodge, 2110 E. Central Ave. at 4:03 a.m. Sunday morning, records show.

Police were initially called about 11:55 p.m. Saturday, interviewed at least three witnesses and found blood under at least two vehicles, records show.

Few other details were released about the stabbings. Calls to the Moose were referred to Administrator Jim McCord Jr. Attempts to reach McCord on Monday were unsuccessful.

A post on the lodge’s Facebook page stated, “We hope that those injured on February 4th have a rapid and full recovery.”
