Several people who had been living in the former Red Lobster building met firefighters as they arrived and stayed at the scene to speak with them.
The fire started in the area where the office used to be.
Columbus Division of Fire Battalion Chief Jeffery Geitter told the Columbus Dispatch that he suspects the people living in the building lit a fire to stay warm, but the official cause has not been determined at this time.
No one was injured in the fire.
The fire is being investigated as a suspicious fire, WCMH reported.
