Student athlete finally home: nearly died in crash

by Sandy Collins

A Bellbrook High School student athlete who was nearly killed on the way to church, spending nearly a month in a coma, is finally home.

Payne Sigman's parents are amazed at the progress he's made "physically and mentally has just been phenomenal."

Jenness and Mark Sigman of Spring Valley say, "Having him home is a dream come true, based on where we were ten weeks ago."

On January 19, Sigman was involved in a car accident that critically injured him and his teammates at Bellbrook feared the worst.

Now after ten weeks, Sigman came home to a warm welcome, with friends, family and a hundred signs & banners marking the occasion.

The family says they couldn't have imagined the outpouring of support they received.

Sigman says he missed sleeping in his own bed. Tonight, no doubt his mother will tuck him in.
